The brand emerged as a reaction against flashy 1980s fashion. Touitou's inspiration came from losing his luggage en route to Barcelona Heddels, when he couldn't find quality raw denim jeans. A friend gave him Japanese selvedge denim, which became A.P.C.'s foundation.
