Baldelli Ceramics is an Italian ceramics company founded in 1943 in Città di Castello, near Perugia, Italy. The Baldelli family has been making ceramics for four generations.
Ceramist Dante Baldelli (1904-1953), who worked since the 1920s and served as director of Ceramica Rometti di Umbertide, opened his own workshop in 1943 in piazza Gioberti, accompanied by his brother Angelo. He was gradually assisted by his oldest son Massimo, who was eight years old at the time.
Following Dante's unexpected death in 1953, eighteen-year-old Massimo took over the business. Under his leadership, Baldelli ceramics were being sold in US department stores from the 1970s, gaining international recognition for their distinctive mid-century modern aesthetic.
During the 1980s, Massimo's daughter Simona and her husband Lorenzo Colacicchi joined the family business , bringing renewed creativity and innovation. In the early 1990s, the Baldelli studio relocated to the countryside outside Città di Castello.
Baldelli ceramics are known for their vibrant glazes, speckled patterns, and hand-painted designs that exemplify mid-century modern style.
